PhD Position in Medical Science within the Subject of Molecular Medicine, Sweden

The aim of the project is to identify mutations in primary leukemic cells using deep DNA sequence analysis in order to understand mechanisms that lead to the transformation of B-cells in the bone marrow to leukemic cells. The accepted PhD student must have previous experience of analysis of DNA sequence data. In addition fundamental knowledge in mathematics and experience in statistical analyses are required, as well as ability to program in Perl, R and MySQL.

The application should include a curriculum vitae, copies of exam certificates, degrees and grades, a copy of your Master’s thesis (or a draft thereof), references, a short description of the applicant and his/her experience. Letter(s) of recommendation may be included.

2011 International PhD Programme in Molecular Life Sciences, Vienna

A PhD at the VBC usually lasts three or four years. The initial contract for incoming PhD students is for three years. If students are making progress in their research and would like to stay in the lab for an additional year, the thesis committee can grant an extension. All students are expected to complete their degrees within four years.

Getting into the VBC PhD programme requires three things: a written application, a personal interview, and a PhD position offer from a VBC group leader.

PhD Studentship within the ATLAS Experiment at the CERN Large Hardon Collider, Sweden: Physics and Astronomy

The Uppsala ATLAS group is part of the High Energy Physics group at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, and currently consists of three faculty members, one post-doctor and three graduate students. We are looking for an excellent and highly motivated PhD student with keen interest in experimental physics and competence within data analysis programs (e.g. C++ and ROOT). The PhD student will work on physics analysis of data from ATLAS and take part in the development of tools for distributed analysis on the grid needed for this purpose.

The PhD position is funded for four years, extendible to a maximum of five years including department duties at a level of at most 20% (typically teaching).
